‘Minstrels’ Gallery’ and ‘Reform’ originate from initial investigative photographs and drawings made of Exeter Cathedral’s Minstrels’ Gallery and The Protestant Reformation era graffiti found on the tomb of Bishop Edmund Stafford.

Throughout the cathedral it seems that wherever you look there is a carved visage looking back at you and I applied this idea to these drawings.

Dynamic rhythms are established based around structural elements and in the case of the
Minstrels’ Gallery the imagined music that they might be playing. These lines are then gradually echoed and exaggerated until new forms begin to suggest themselves.
